On the evening of December 1, Glen Rose Intermediate School was the scene of music, gifts, and lots of smiles as parents and teachers of English Language Learners gathered to watch their children perform with Penny Brister and Dorothy Gibbs.
Numerous students from Amanda Cantwell’s junior high class were in attendance and Lorrie McCravery introduced four high school students who led the group in a Christmas sing-a-long.
Debbie Morris and Clarie Downing explained how GRISD has initiated bilingual education on the elementary campus.
“‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” was presented by Intermediate students on ActiveStudio by Mrs. Yocham and Mrs. Wade.
Ruth Ann Emerson invited parents to the computer lab at the conclusion of the meeting and gave a demonstration on the use of Rosetta Stone. She explained that the program is available on each campus for adults that are English language learners on a rotating evening schedule. The program offers adults a chance to participate in a self-paced and interactive program.
Robert Villalpando from the junior high campus won the big Christmas stocking prize donated by Simple Simon’s Pizza.
