GLEN ROSE – For most, the spring-cleaning efforts have already begun. Which also means the heaping pile of recyclable junk has grown by tenfold.
That is exactly why Somervell County and the City of Glen Rose are sponsoring a countywide cleanup day Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drop-off location will be on the corner of Bo Gibbs and Commerce just behind the Somervell County Expo Center along US Highway 67.
“This is an opportunity for you to get rid of all those large bulky items and other debris, branches and trash from your property at no cost,” the event’s flyer reads. “Basic rule of thumb is that if the item ever turned on or plugged in, we can recycle it.”
While most items – such as computers, laptops, wiring, cell phones, cameras, appliances and video game consoles – can be recycled at no cost, there will be a fee for televisions and refrigerators that still contain Freon.
TVs can be recycled for $2 per inch of screen and refrigerators can be taken after the $20 fee is paid.
For a list of restricted items, or more information on items that will be accepted at no cost, contact the Glen Rose City Hall at (254) 897-2272. Proof of Somervell County residency may be requested upon arrival during the event.
