GLEN ROSE – For the second-straight year, Glen Rose Medical Center and 95.3 KOME are teaming up for the Mission 95 Donate Life Day. The event, which will attempt to break last year’s mark of 108 pints of blood donated, is scheduled for Friday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Somervell County Expo Center.
“This is a great way to give back,” said Lisa Andersen, public relations and community education educator for Glen Rose Medical Center. “Last year the generous residents of Somervell County and the audience of 95.3 KOME helped us collect 108 pints of blood for Carter Bloodcare. Summer is a slow time for blood donations with a high demand for blood.”
This year’s event will feature representatives, demonstrations and more from Crystal Plaster StateFarm, Glen Rose Nursing and Rehab, Glen Rose Medical Center, Delete Blood Cancer, Life Gift Texas, Cherokee Rose Nursing and Rehab, Careflight, Car Seat Checks and Camp Gladiator. If wanting to utilize the car seat check, patrons are asked to bring the child who sits in the car seat, as well.
There will also be live music from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and a community lunch served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. KOME will broadcast live from the event throughout the day.
“Even if you don’t think you can donate, we can ask you a few questions and you just might be surprised,” Andersen said. “We will have a lot of fun while saving lives. We plan on beating last year’s number of 108, so come help us make that happen.“
