Hike Into the Past

8 – 10 a.m., Dinosaur Valley State Park: Discover how to read the pages of time as we discuss the geology and how it shaped the landscape we see today. Meet at the Park Store for an approximately two-mile hike. Please bring water and wear appropriate hiking shoes.

Photo Tour

4 – 8 p.m. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center: This tour lasts four hours and will let the photographer catch the dusk light, the best light possible for afternoon photos. The tour will go through Fossil Rim’s 1,800-acre pastures. There are 59 species of animals here at Fossil Rim. Some of the animals that may be photographed are white rhinoceros, blackbuck, European red deer, gemsbok, zebra, addax, waterbuck, giraffe, sable antelope, axis deer and dama gazelle. It’s not!” Discover the powerful message about natural resource conservation found in this favorite children’s book written by Dr. Seuss. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Street of the Lifted Lorax and become a part of the story. This integrative program connects the story of the Lorax to an endangered Texas native, the Attwater’s Prairie Chicken, of which we have a breeding population on site.
