GLEN ROSE – Consider it dash of elegance and a touch of class to compliment this historically cowboy area of Texas.
Starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Somervell History Foundation will host The Cowboys and Cabernet Gala, an acclaimed annual fundraiser that celebrates the very essence of Glen Rose.
“We want everyone to come and experience the best Glen Rose has to offer,” said Marcia Miller, Foundation board member and co-chair of the gala. “We’re expecting as many as 250 people and believe it will be the best event that has ever been held. Our guests will include not just local people but people as far away as Houston, Granbury, Dallas, Fort Worth and beyond.”
This gala takes place this year on the property of host Barnard’s Mill & Art Museum, 307 SW Barnard St.
Samples of delicious food will be on display from such restaurants as Rough Creek Lodge, Inn on the River, Riverhouse Grill, Sweet Magnolia Market, Storiebook Café to Hollywood & Vine, and Hammons BBQ.
Miller said the event will be “fun and festive for everyone who attends.”
Music for the event will be provided by the Mike Daniels Band. There will be both live and silent auctions, and artist Doug Prine is painting “A Night at the Museum” to be raffled off later in the evening. A baseball team will be on hand to throw out the first pitch at one of their games. Four tickets to that game also will be available.
Tickets may be purchased at the Glen Rose Convention and Visitors Bureau or on line at www.barnardsmill.org.
Ticket price is $50, which includes food, drinks including wine and beer, entertainment, auctions and the chance to win a $2,500 vacation.
Each ticket provides one free entry for the vacation drawing.
