GLEN ROSE - The next court hearing for the mother accused of seriously injuring her 2-year-old daughter by placing her in a kitchen oven is tentatively set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Somervell County Courthouse.
Tasha Shontelle Hatcher was indicted April 5 on a first-degree felony count of injury to a child with serious bodily injury.
The indictment came less than three weeks after the incident that reportedly left her child with second- and third-degree burns.
Hatcher was 34 on the night of March 17, 2016, when one of her neighbors called the Somervell County Sheriff's Office to report the incident
Hatcher was arraigned March 19. She remains in the Somervell County Jail under a $300,000 bond.
The child was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment of her injuries. She has been placed with Child Protective Services.
Hatcher's court-appointed attorney, Richard de los Santos of Cleburne, told the Glen Rose Reporter that the upcoming court appearance will be a status hearing in which attorneys will update 18th District Court Judge John Neill on where they stand.
No trial date has been set, de los Santos said. He declined to comment on the case.
The case is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and Child Protective Services.
