Are you a kid interested in fishing, but don’t have a pole to use?
That’s not a problem because you’re invited to the 26th annual Youth Fish Day at Squaw Creek Lake Marina in Somervell County, Saturday starting with registration at 8 a.m. at the Squaw Creek gate. The gate will not be open until 8.
Fishing poles will be loaned out for the free event to any child who needs one.
The free event is open to all area youths in kindergarten through 12th grades with a parent or guardian.
The event, organized by Lake Granbury WFW Post 7835 and area game wardens, will also include a free hot dog lunch at 11:30 a.m.
There is no entry fee. All family members are invited.
Bring your fishing rod if you have one. Adults who participate will be required to bring their own fishing rod.
Worms will be provided as bait, but you are welcome to bring your own bait or lures.
If you’d like to volunteer to help during the event, donate, or if you have questions, call the VFW post at 817-573-9350, or Game Warden Joni Kuykendall at 254-396-6753.
