Independence Day is just days away and with it comes some fun family festivities to celebrate along with other happenings. Make it a good one and Happy Fourth of July from the Glen Rose Reporter.

1. Concerts in the Park

Get ready for more live music as Glen Rose continues its free Concerts in the Park series at 8 p.m. Saturday at Oakdale Park. This week’s concert will feature the Anything Goes Band from Granbury. 2. Archery 101

Try out those archery skills when Dinosaur Valley State Park hosts an Archery 101 event from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the park. Attendees will learn the basics of archery using guidelines from the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) and all materials will be provided. This event is for ages eight and up and those attending are asked to bring water and wear sun protection. For more information visit the Archery 101 event page.

3. Hometown 4th of July Celebration

Glen Rose will kick off its Hometown 4th of July Celebration at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the American Legion Post 462 followed by the parade at 9 a.m., which ends near downtown. Family fun games on the square will take place until Noon with festivities starting at 7 p.m. in Wheeler Branch Park. There will be live music by the Mike Daniels Band and at 9:30 p.m. the fireworks show will begin.
