Get out your grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts and be working on your tan so you can come celebrate 58 years of Hawaiian statehood with us. We will be having a luau on Friday, Aug. 25. Stay tuned for details.

We will be having Swap & Shop, again, on Friday, July 21, so clean out your closets, finish your craft projects or bake up some goodies. Five dollars gets you an 8-foot table for the day. Come early, because most of the sellers shut down by 1 p.m.

Winners of last week’s Forty-Two tournament were Roy Mercer & James Kelley in first place, Tamra Black & Billie Flanary in second, Nancy Moore & Dortha Beck in third and Dorothy Jo Osborn & Loveda Swaim in fourth.

Our next dance will be this Friday, July 14th with Western Reunion. Doors open at 6.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning July 17: Gospel music/potluck, Bingo and Chess on Monday, Fit/Flex group exercise and wood carving on Tuesday; Forty-Two tournament, blood pressure screening by Lee Healthcare, therapy talk by Cherokee Rose and Dollar General shopping on Wednesday; Chess, group exercise and local grocery shopping on Thursday and Swap & Shop, Bingo and local grocery shopping on Friday.

Besides the scheduled activities, there are games, puzzles, Forty Two and visiting going on every day. Don’t see it on the calendar? Make a suggestion; we’re always looking for new ideas.

Remember that you don’t have to be a senior to come and enjoy all of our activities or eat lunch with us. You can go to our Facebook page “Somervell Citizens’ Center” for lots of pictures and the next day’s menu and scheduled events and don’t forget to “like” our page.
