We’ve got a busy week ahead. We will be having donuts and kolaches on Monday morning in celebration of Senior Citizens’ Day and later on Monday, we will be having a solar eclipse watch party. After lunch, we’ll be donning our eclipse watching glasses and getting a look at the Great American Eclipse, as it’s being called.

It will only be visible in North America and it will be around 75% for our viewing area. On Wednesday, we’ll be celebrating August birthdays with live music by Margie Hartsfield. Then, on Friday, the 25th, we will be having our Luau, complete with Elvis impersonator, as we celebrate 58 years of Hawaiian statehood. And finally, Friday will wrap up the week with our semi-monthly dance, featuring DJ, David Gunter.

Winners of last week’s Bunco tournament were Jackie Smith with the most Buncso, Betty Flanagan with the most wins and Janet Stacy with the most losses. Others playing were: Caroline Abrego, Ann Parham, Lynn Glenn, Carole Kofke, Joel Glenn, June Greer and Louise McCoy.

Our next dance will be Friday, Aug. 25 with DJ, David Gunter, spinning the country classics.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning August 14th are: Senior Citizens’ Day breakfast, eclipse watch party, Gospel music/potluck supper, Bingo and Chess on Monday, Fit/Flex group exercise and wood carving on Tuesday; Bunco tournament, celebrating August birthdays and Dollar General shopping on Wednesday; Chess, group exercise and local grocery shopping on Thursday and Luau, dance, Bingo and local grocery shopping on Friday.

Besides the scheduled activities, there are games, puzzles, Forty Two and visiting going on every day.  Don’t see it on the calendar? Make a suggestion; we’re always looking for new ideas.
