There are some great family-friendly events taking place in the Glen Rose area this weekend. Make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. Woodcarving Rally & Show

Don’t miss your chance to see some expert woodcarving from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday and continuing through Oct. 20 in the Convention Center at Oakdale Park. The Woodcarving Rally & Show will feature carvers, wood turners and scroll saw artists and will be open to the public. The pieces will be judged and awards will be given for People’s Choice and Carver’s Choice. For more information visit www.glenrosetexas.net.

2. Events at Dinosaur Valley

Dinosaur Valley State Park will host several fun events this weekend, which include Tales of the Night, The Mammoth Run, Make a Spider Web and Pumpkin Painting. Tales of the Night will be held at 8 p.m. Friday and will feature stories about night animals, stars and spooky things around a campfire. The Mammoth Run will start at 8 a.m. Saturday and includes a 1K, 5K, 10K and 15K. The Make a Spider Web event will start at 11 a.m. Saturday and the pumpkin painting will take place from 1-2 p.m. Sunday with all materials provided. 3. World Food Day at Fossil Rim

Learn about food and hunger locally and around the world at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center’s World Food Day taking place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
