Somervell County Elections Administrator Christy Barclay said that only five people had cast early ballots by late afternoon Monday, but that isn’t unusual for such an election, featuring only seven proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

“We have alway had lower turnout (for these) than for the primary elections,” Barclay said.

The early voting period is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Nov. 3.

Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 7, and local voting will be in the Somervell County Expo Center from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
