The weekend is here and the weather is expected to be beautiful, just in time for these fun happenings in Glen Rose and the surrounding area. Make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. Texas Emergency sales tax holiday

Stock up on emergency equipment like portable generators, batteries, fire extinguishers, first aid kits and more during the Texas Emergency Preparedness sales tax holiday taking place Saturday-Monday. For a full list of tax-free items, visit the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce events page.

2. Flacas Clean H20 run

Make a trip out to Hico and help raise money for clean water projects at the Flacas Fitness & Brews Clean H20 5K and 10K run kicking off at 9 a.m. Saturday at 110 N. Pecan St. Finisher medals will be awarded and post race breakfast tacos and beer will be served. The event will also feature raffles with the proceeds benefiting Kids Across Cultures. 3. Bird Walk

Round up the kiddos and head over to Dinosaur Valley State Park for a Bird Walk starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the park store. Participants will join a park ranger and look and listen for birds through a one-hour flat walk. Binoculars are encouraged and the event is free with the park entry fee. 4. Night Hike

Explore and learn about nocturnal wildlife at Dinosaur Valley at a Night Hike kicking off at 8 p.m. Saturday at the main track site parking lot. Blacklight flashlights will be available on a first come, first serve basis, but participants can bring their own. The hike is three miles long and will include a trip to the scenic overlook. 5. LGAA Spring Art Show

Browse and purchase original works of art at the Lake Granbury Art Association’s Spring Art Show open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays through May 3 at the Shanley House Gallery.
