GRISD's Open House for the middle school, junior high and high school all had a common theme - excitement paired with a little nervousness.

Each campus had teachers and administration welcoming students with big cheers and hugs Monday evening.

“To succeed in all of my classes, but I’m nervous about getting lost,” freshman Makaia Prince said about her goals for the new school year.

“I am ready to get back into the swing of things and get these kids back in school,” said GRHS Assistant Principal Jason Pounds.

GRHS senior Christian Moseley said he is looking forward to the future.

“I am a senior this year and I will be going into the Army after graduation,” he said.

Sixth grader Lucan Nash said he is "excited about hanging out with my old friends" while making new ones.

“I know they are nervous, but I am excited to see the 5th graders coming up to jr high,” said math teacher Janet Yeager.
