Come join Paul Trotter and others for gospel music at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20. Everyone has a fun time and enjoy singing old gospel hymns, bringing back memories of simpler days. This is a monthly event every third Monday. Put it on your calendar.
This is also birthday celebration week. We honor August birthdays on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. with music and entertainment provided by Margie. She is a hit with the citizens.
You can play Bingo on Monday and Friday, beginning at 10:30 those mornings. Chess players gather from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Monday and Thursday, and woodcarvers are here at the Center every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon.
The fitness group meets at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and you can line dance with other citizens, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Grocery shopping trips and a trip to Dollar General for citizens age 60 and over are offered this week as well. The grocery shopping trips are at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday, and the Dollar General trip is at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Call the Center before 10 a.m. to reserve your ride. You can be picked up and dropped off at your home by our drivers.
Don’t forget to call the Center to reserve your meal Monday through Friday. Please call before 10 a.m. so that we can get a count for Judy, our cook, for the meal that day. If you want to reserve for the whole week, you are welcome to call on Monday to let us know.
Our Center is located at 209 SW Barnard, 254-897-2139. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon. Meals eaten at the Center for those 60 and over: donations are very much appreciated; those under 60 years of age: $5.50; take-out meals are $3.75 for citizens 60 and over and $5.50 for those under 60 with drink and dessert included.

Friday, August 17 – Lemon chicken, rice pilaf, spinach, roll, mixed fruit.
Monday – Baked chicken, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, slice of wheat bread, chocolate pudding.
Tuesday – Pinto beans with ham, macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, cornbread, peaches.
Wednesday – Beef tips with gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, roll, apple cobbler.
Thursday – King Ranch chicken, green peas, garden salad, roll, buttermilk pie.
Friday – Chicken parmesan, mixed vegetables, macaroni salad, garlic toast, applesauce cake.
