The Glen Rose City Council met Monday and approved several big-ticket items affecting local residents.

First on the list was the adoption of the ad valorem tax rate for the 2009 fiscal year. Approved unanimously, the .4071 cents per $100 valuation is down approximately three cents from last year. The previous rate was .4309 cents per $100 valuation.

The council also adopted the proposed budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year.

Action also came after executive session when the council authorized the mayor to sign a contract to purchase Oakdale Park. No amount was quoted in the park’s purchase.

The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
