Young and old converged on the downtown square Friday for one of the least-known commemorative days - national Constitution Day.

Students from Glen Rose Junior High School, members of the Elizabeth Crockett chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and residents listened to Dr. Gary Sisson of Bonham again deliver his re-enactment of patriot Patrick Henry's famous "Give me liberty or give me death!" speech, complete with colonial costume.

Mayor Jean King read a proclamation commemorating Constitution Day.

To simulate the ringing of the liberty bell, DAR members distributed tiny jingle bells on ribbons and the students and residents shook them and waved tiny American flags.

Constitution Day honors the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787.
