Somervell County residents will gather Sunday to gives thanks together.

Congregations will gather at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Glen Rose for the annual Community Thanksgiving Service.

The night’s worship service includes a message from Methodist Pastor Billy Strayhorn, music directed by Dr. Paul Smidt and singing from members of Saint Rose of Lima Church.

“We plan (this) for the community,” Kent Barnes, president of the Somervell County Ministerial Fellowship group, said. “As far as I know there is not another service involving multiple churches.”

In addition to honoring several religions and giving thanks as a whole, the churches will have an offering to benefit the benevolent needs of the community. There will also be a canned good drive for the Somervell County Food Bank.
