The Glen Rose City Council is looking for ways to draw people to its tourist city. The council added just one more place to list last Monday after approving an interlocal agreement with the Glen Rose Independent School District to lease Beck Field.

The agreement is a 10-year lease at the expense of $1 per year and all maintenance.

“Softball and slow pitch are real big in this state,” council member Bob Strickland said. “It might be something that would bring more people.”

A motion to enter into the interlocal agreement was unanimously approved by the council.

The agreement was also unanimously approved by the Glen Rose ISD Board of Trustees Thursday night.

In other business the council:

• Approved an operating and maintenance budget for Oakdale Park.

• Approved the closing of McAllister Street from Northeast Barnard Street to its intersection with College Street.

• Authorized Sefko and Associates to produce an “overlay” ordinance for Highway 67 and 144 and the Paluxy River District.

• Approved invoices due and payable by the Glen Rose 4B Economic Development Corporation and change orders on the Riverwalk Project.
