Amy Murphy, daughter of Brenda and Walter Maynard of Glen Rose, has received her doctorate in higher education at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Murphy serves as associate dean of students and managing director of the Center for Campus Life at Texas Tech. She oversees the first-year Raider experience, Red Raider orientation, transfer connection, Greek life, off-campus and sophomore initiatives, spirit activities and the assessment response team and crisis intervention.
In addition, Dr. Murphy is a liaison for student services to the Texas Tech off-campus sites and study abroad programs. She is also available to assist students and families in resolving problems and issues impeding retention and student success at the institution.
With more than 10 years of experience in student affairs, Dr. Murphy has enjoyed various positions within the Center for Campus Life and previous experiences at Texas Tech in residence life and at Texas Christian University in the Office of Admissions. Her educational background includes a M.Ed. in Higher Education/Student Affairs and a B.A. in Public Relations.
Dr. Murphy spends her time volunteering with the Junior League of Lubbock and enjoys professional associations with the American Association of University Women, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, and Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators.
