Somervell County sheriff’s deputies arrested Aaron Scott Murrell, 23, for burglary of a habitation and could face more charges, according to a press release from the department.
Deputy Michael Reynolds and Lt. Deputy Anders Dahl responded to a call on Dec. 3 about items hidden in trees and brush along a fence line at a Union Drilling work site off C.R. 304.
Deputies discovered tire tracks at the scene, matching a Chevrolet pickup also on the site. They found additional alleged stolen items inside the truck.
Commissioner Lloyd Wirt was able to identify the property as his, which was taken from his residence on C.R. 307. Guns were among the items stolen.
Murrell was identified as the driver of the truck. When questioned by deputies, he confessed to burglarizing the residence, hiding the property and damaging another vehicle during the offense. He was booked into the Somervell County jail.
The investigation is ongoing and all evidence will be sent to Johnson/Somervell County District Attorney Dale Hanna.
