An early morning accident on Wednesday, Jan. 20 claimed the life of Glen Rose resident James Quail Peterson.

Peterson, 21, was a passenger in a vehicle that was southbound on FM 56 North when driver Seth Dozier, 21, of Glen Rose, failed to negotiate a turn at approximately 3 a.m., Trooper Steven Marks said.

"The driver failed to negotiate the curve and went through the bar ditch, through a fence and hit a tree head-on," Marks said.

The damaged fence was property of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

Marks said Tuesday the cause of the accident was unknown.

Peterson leaves behind a daughter, BrookLynn Quail Peterson. Additional survivors include his parents Gary and Brenda Peterson; brothers Carl West and wife, Tammy, and Gary Dee Peterson, all of Glen Rose.

Funeral services were held Jan. 23, 2010 at Wiley Funeral Home.
