The Glen Rose City Council and Preservation Board presented Tim Cecil with the “Preservationist of the Year” award at Monday evening’s council meeting.

A plaque also will be placed in Town Hall honoring Cecil and future winners of the award. Cecil has bought and restored or renovated many properties in the city’s Historic District.

The award seeks to “honor and recognize individuals for outstanding efforts in the preservation, restoration or community education of historic Glen Rose properties and heritage.”

Cecil said afterward he was “surprised” by the honor, which brought him a round of applause in the council chambers.
