John and Paula Hall found themselves without a home Monday afternoon after their house on County Road 402 burst into flames.

"My wife was at the residence but was in the barn (at the time)," John said.

The home was a total loss Somervell County Fire Department officials, who battled the blaze for more than four hours Monday and again Tuesday morning, reported.

"The house is a total loss and I am at a total loss as to what I am going to do," John said.

The Red Cross phoned the couple, but they instead received aid from family members.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Chief Mark Crawford said.

"We are just lucky it happened during the day and not at night," John said.
