Local elections are under way and voters are heading to the polls taking advantage of the Early Voting period which began Monday.
Registered voters have until Tuesday, May 6 to cast their ballots prior to Election Day, Saturday, May 10 for this year’s Glen Rose city council, Glen Rose ISD school board and Somervell County Water District elections.
As of Tuesday at 3 p.m., just six individuals cast their ballots at Town Hall for the city council election, including four on Monday and two on Tuesday.
In the GRISD school board election, election judges reported that a total of 31 individuals had cast their votes by the time polls closed Tuesday, including 21 on Monday and 10 the following day.
In order to cast a ballot voters should bring their voter registration card or a photo identification card to the polls to present to an election judge.
Although the deadline has passed to register to vote in this year’s local elections, registered voters will have nearly two weeks to cast their ballots before Election Day.
Glen Rose City Council
Early voting began for the Glen Rose city council elections on Monday, April 28 and continues through May 6. Polls will be open at Town Hall for early voting from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.
On Election Day, Saturday, May 10, polls will be open at Town Hall for 12 hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is Friday, May 2, for those voters who will be out of town during the voting period. Mail-in ballots must be received by the election judge at Town Hall by May 10.
GRISD School Board
Early voting started for the GRISD school board elections on Monday and will continue through Tuesday, May 6. Polls will be open at the GRISD Administration Building for early voting from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day.
On Election Day, polls will be open at Glen Rose Town Hall for 12 hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the city and school district will hold a joint-election.
The last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is Friday, May 2, for those voters who will be out of town during the voting period. Mail-in ballots must be received by the GRISD election judge on May 10.
Somervell County Water District
Registered voters may cast their ballots in the Somervell County Water District (SCWD) bond and board of director’s election during the Early Voting period, now through Tuesday, May 6. Polls will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Saturdays and Sundays.
On Election Day, May 10, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All voting will be conducted at the SCWD offices, located at 2521 CR 301 in Glen Rose.
