Two vehicles collided and both rolled over in a Monday morning accident on State Highway 144 south of Glen Rose, sending several people to the hospital.
The accident occurred around 8 a.m. south of the Somervell-Bosque line and near the hill with the cell phone tower on the eastern side.
The highway was shut down in both directions. More than a dozen emergency vehicles, with lights flashing, were on the scene. Debris was strewn around the scene.
Travelers are urged to find an alternative route from Glen Rose to Walnut Springs, such as FM 203.
The vehicles involved appeared to be a dark gray pickup truck and a red Quest minivan. Both cars came to rest on their sides.
Rescuers worked to free the victims from the wreckage. They used the "jaws of life" to cut a driver and passenger from the black vehicle.
At least three people — two men and a woman — were taken to Glen Rose Medical Center or hospitals in Fort Worth.
There was no word yet on the names of the accident victims.
Emergency personnel responded from the Bosque County Sheriff's Department, Walnut Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Somervell County Fire Department, Meridian Fire Department, Brazos Point Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
