Junior High Optimist Youth of the Month for April are Christine Sheets and

Taylor Hansen.

Christine Sheets is on the AB honor roll and is taking all advanced classes. She is a reporter for NJHS.

Sheets participates in volleyball, basketball and received commended scores on all TAKS tests. She also participated in the seventh grade Duke Talen Search and achieved state level recognition on the critical reading portion of the SAT.

Sheets’ community involvement includes nursing home visits; Relay for Life participant and she also participated in school fundraisers.

Taylor Hansen is on the A honor roll and is enrolled in Pre AP classes. He is a member of the Duke University Talent Program and he received commended TAKS scores.

Hansen is a member of People to People Leadership Program to Washington D.C. and the National Junior Honor Society.

He participants in UIL and has placed in calculator, spelling and mathematics. He also plays football, basketball and select baseball.

Hansen’s community involvement includes being a member of St. Rosa Lima Catholic Church; Relay for Life participant and assistant basketball coach for youth.

Optimist Youth scholarship recipients were named Tuesday morning as well.

Yvonne Newton received the Glen Rose Optimist Club - Bill Starnes Scholarship for $500.

Brielle Nicholson received the Glen Rose Optimist Club - Roger Marks Scholarship for $500.

Dakota Williams received the Glen Rose Optimist Club - Logan Starnes $500 Scholarship.

Rachel Dye received the Glen Rose Optimist Club - Vernon Bohach $500 Scholarship.
