Shawn Scarle, Cat Driskell’s daughter, visited the Citizen’s Center last week.
The “42” tournament winners last week were: first place Dorothy Jo Osborn and Ila Verne Stull; second place Loveda Swaim and Grady May; third place was a tie between the teams of Dortha Beck and Floyd Flanary and Eddie and Billie Flanary; fourth place was Zula Hunter and Cora Harkins. The rest of the teams competing were: Janelle Gartrell and Don Baker; Royce Stacy and Roy Mercer; Pat Thompson and Jeff Parker; Veda Gosdin and Nancy Moore; Gail Chisholm and Clark Stewart; Trey Welch and Ann Parham; and Billie Jean Pickins and Mary Pruett. Mary Baker served as tournament judge.
Texas Neighborhood Services has funds to help citizens of Somervell County with energy assistance. Barbara Milner will be at the Citizen’s Center every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon or you can reach her at 817-556-3752.
Friday, June 12, there will be Gospel Music at the Citizen’s Center. We will open at 6:30-9 p.m. The entertainment will be Keron Vanlandingham and Friends. The special Friends include Brenda Thomas, Wes McMillian, Wesley Ives, Paul Trotter, Roger Trotter and Don Mayfield. Admission is free, but everyone is asked to bring a finger food to be enjoyed during the break time.
Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning June 15: quilting on Monday; Community Resource Network, ceramics and needlework on Tuesday; health screening, “42” tournament and Clark Cole on Wednesday; TOPS and David’s grocery shopping on Thursday; quilting, bingo with Wanda, Shop and Swap, Father’s Day program and Brookshire’s grocery shopping on Friday.
