Special to the Reporter

The Alpha Delta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi hosted its Thanksgiving meeting at The Inn on the River Conference Center last month. A wonderful “Elegant Thanksgiving Picnic” was held by hostesses Peggy Lytle, Sharon Schultz, Shirley Reinke and Tammy Dooley.

The official meeting was called to order by President Sharon Schultz. Executive board reports were presented. Vice President Cynthia Joyner stated that at the January 2011 meeting Betty Gosdin and Peggy Lytle would be receiving their Laureate degrees. After that degree ceremony, there will be a short “celebration” as the chapter’s Laureate standing with International is to be finalized at that time.

Committee reports were presented. Social Committee Chairman Shirley Reinke updated the sorority on plans for the Christmas Social which will be held at the Inn On The River. The theme for the event will be a “cookie swap,” complete with recipe cards and decorated cookie containers as favors. Service Committee Chairman Bertha Mieth updated the group on plans to bring food to the food pantry in January.

A new business report was provided by Debbie Davis on the sorority service project, Christmas being sent to “Annie’s Orphans” in Haiti. A total of $203 was collected, along with many packages of clothing and sports equipment, watches, toys, baby dolls, etc. They will be wrapped and shipped via Fed Ex and delivered to the children in Haiti in person. A follow-up will be announced to the sorority by Sharon Davis, who is overseeing the mission along with Debbie Davis.
