In addition to the ADB monthly meeting, the sorority traveled to Fredricksburg, Texas for their traditional Spring Fling April 17 and 18. The social committee consisting of Deanna Hardie, Cheryl Nabors and Erma Sanderson planned the weekend full of activities which including shopping, dining, socializing and networking. The group had a great time and is already planning next year’s social.

Next, the sorority hosted its annual Founder’s Day Celebration. Founder’s Day honors Beta Sigma Phi’s Founder, Walter W. Ross and celebrated the 78th Anniversary of Beta Sigma Phi. The event was held at Storiebook Café and was planned by Extension Officer Tammy Dooley and the Founder’s Day committee which included members Melodie Isham, Peggy Lytle, Debbie Davis, Julie Locke, Lori Magner and Shirley Reinke. The 2009-2010 Theme “Share Our Passport to Adventure” was revealed.

Three local chapters of Beta Sigma Phi were present. Alpha Delta Beta, Beta Gamma Sigma and Preceptor Lambda Nu.

Special guest Glenda “Ga-Linda” Dooley started the evening by singing the National Anthem acapela. Guest speaker for the evening was Diane Davis from Dallas, Texas who presented a program on “Tell Your Story.” A PowerPoint presentation also entertained the group which included photos of past meetings and events. Jennifer Hufstedler, President of Beta Gamma Sigma and her sorority did a fabulous job of providing the table decorations and centerpieces for the night.

Cynthia Moates, President Alpha Delta Beta was awarded Woman of the Year and presented a special yellow rose and pin. Beta Sigma Phi sorority is comprised of women of all ages, interests, and educational and economic backgrounds; it is the largest organization of its kind in the world. Each year at Founder’s Day members renew their pledge “To give the best that is in us…to advance further in a greater understanding of the good, the true and the beautiful.”
