Special to the Reporter

We’ve had requests to set up a Tai Chi class and a walking club. These would take place after 5 p.m. and be held at the Citizens Center.  There likely will be a small charge for the Tai Chi class taught by Rhonda Duffy.  We do not anticipate a charge for the walking club and are looking for someone to lead it.  If you are interested in the classes or serving as a leader for the walking club, please give us a call at 897-2139 and ask for Pam. Both are sure to be interesting and healthful.

We had a small turnout for the shopping trip to the new Sam Moon’s in Fort Worth, but those who went said it was amazing.  All the purses, jewelry, wallets, hair accessories (including wigs and clip-on hairpieces) you could possibly want under one roof. I’m sure we’ll be making another trip there when more of the shops in his shopping center have opened.

We would like to remind everyone of the services available to the public through the Somervell County Committee on Aging. We have emergency response pendants/boxes available for a monthly fee, medical equipment to be borrowed, food orders from our kitchen, noon meals Monday through Friday, home-delivered meals and transportation services, not to mention all the activities we have on our monthly calendar. The home-delivered meals and transportation services are limited to those 60 and over.

Join us on Friday, June 18, at 11:30 a.m. as we celebrate Father’s Day. We have some homemade goodies from our kitchen for this year’s fathers in attendance.

Have you found that picture of yourself to enter in our “Guess Who?” contest on July 14?  It’s only a month away, so don’t forget.

We have a trip scheduled to Hico for shopping and sightseeing on Saturday, June 26.  If you would like to go, come by to sign up or call the Citizens Center at 897-2139.  We may need some to drive their own cars and carpool, depending on the number going.

Activities at the Citizens Center beginning on June 21 are: Wii games and exercise class on Monday; needlework and ceramics on Tuesday; June monthly birthday celebration with Margie on Wednesday; exercise and David’s grocery shopping on Thursday; bingo, quilting and Brookshire’s grocery shopping on Friday.  Besides the scheduled activities, there are “42” games, puzzles, quilting and visiting going on every day.  Come join us.
