Mrs. Rachel Basham, formerly of Glen Rose, has been presented with “The Yellow Rose of Texas” award, given only through the Governor's Office in recognition of outstanding Texas women for their significant contributions to the state of Texas.
Rachel was presented the award at the change of command ceremony for her husband, CPT Jon Basham, this September. CPT Basham served as Commander of the Warrior Medics for the past year in Afghanistan.
Rachel and Jon reside in Killeen with their two children, Tristen and Hayden Basham. She currently volunteers as the Family Readiness Group Leader for the 581st ASMC at Fort Hood. She also received a Volunteer of the Year award in March from the 1st MED BDE for her outstanding service to Fort Hood.
Rachel is the daughter of Ralph and Suzanne Brown and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Farris Gartrell and Mrs. Patsy Thompson.
