The ď42Ē tournament winners on Dec. 3 were: 1st place - a tie between Eddie & Billie Flanary and Veda Gosdin & Nancy Moore; 2nd place Roy Mercer & Clark Stewart; 3rd place a tie between Jim Halbert & J. D. Armstrong and Zula Hunter & Cora Harkins; 4th place a tie between Royce Stacy & Dorothy Holder and Ila Verne Stull & Dorothy Jo Osborn. Other teams participating included Floyd Flanary & Dortha Beck; Pat Thompson & Jeff Parker; Grady May & Loveda Swaim; Trey Welch & Ann Parham; Mary Pruett & Billie Jean Pickens; Mary Voss & Charlotte Carmichael; and Don Baker & Wayne Carstenson. Thank you goes out to Mary Baker for serving as tournament judge.
Frank Martinez, better known around the Citizenís Center as Little Frank, passed away over the weekend. Frankís brother was Al Martinez and sister-in-law Josie Martinez of Glen Rose. The van drivers picked up Little Frank every day and brought him to the Center where he had several volunteer jobs that kept him busy throughout the day. Anyone who frequented the Center knew Frank. Frank will be buried in Bronte, Texas were he was raised. We will miss all the hugs and kisses Frank use to give us when it was time for him to go home.
Julie Conner has rescheduled her beading class to Monday, Dec. 15. Julie will be teachings us how to make an ornament hanger and an elastic bracelet. The charge will be $3 for the class. If you are interested in attending, call the Center and we will put your name on the class list.
Activities beginning Dec. 15: beading with Julie on Monday; needlework, ceramics, gospel music and Tops on Tuesday; Hinkle Family Gospel group, Christmas lunch and a health screening on Wednesday; TOPS and Davidís grocery shopping on Thursday; quilting, bingo with Wanda, shop & swap and Brookshireís grocery shopping on Friday.
Gary Marks will be at the Citizenís Center at 11:30 Wednesday, Dec. 10, to give a short program and answer any questions pertaining to the forming of a hospital district.
Donít forget our 9th Annual Trust Fund Christmas Party for citizens age 60 and over at the Citizenís Center at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. The entertainment this year will be Truman Hudson and Riggin. We will start serving at 6:30 p.m., Santa will visit, and there will be door prizes and lots of fun. If you know you are going to attend, give us a call at 897-2139 and we will put you on the party list. Also, if you need transportation let us know.
The Citizenís Center will be closed Dec. 25 - 26 for the holidays.
We are celebrating a one-year anniversary with van driver, Johnny Selby. We look forward to many more.
