The Bosque River Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) will have their final meeting of the 2008/09 year on Tuesday, May 12, at the home of member Becky Farrar. The meeting will commence at noon with a covered dish luncheon followed by installation of officers for the 2009-11 years.
District Representative Faye Elder will conduct the installation of the following officers: President Jane Klein; Vice President Judith D’Amico Secretary Gwen Swink; Treasurer Toni Naccache; Registrar Linda Bowden; Chaplain Marla Bush.
Mary Mercer, an associate member who is working on her membership papers, will give the program. She will tell of Minnie Lou Bradley, concluding our series on famous women of Texas. Roll call will be answered by giving the name of a woman ancestor who we think is famous or should be.
Bosque River Chapter recently gave facsimiles of historic Texas documents and a book, “The Ghost of Jenny” by Mary Jo Clendenin, to the Brazos River Charter School. The Daughters of the Republic of Texas encourage the study of Texas history with similar donations to local schools.
