The Glen Rose City Council will be without a mayor for the next six months.
The council decided Monday night not to appoint a replacement since city elections are coming up next May.
Mayor Pro Tem Johnny Martin will run the council meetings and will remain a voting member of the council. The mayor only votes in case of a tie.
The decision came after the council also voted to accept Pam Millerís resignation as mayor. She resigned a day after the council finalized a job description and pay structure for the position of manager of Oakdale Park. Miller is among those who have applied for the job.
