We were happy to see Lynwood and Nicki Miller, Beverly Anleson, and Linda Smith visit the Citizen’s Center last week.
The Volunteer Appreciation program was held last Wednesday. Dan & Mary Baker, Kent Barnes, Johnetta Crane, Cat Driskill, Eddie & Billie Flanary, Lynn Guthrie, Alice Lance, Sarah Luttrell, Connie Scott, Ila Verne Stull, Loveda Swaim, Wanda Turner, Jerry Wait, Ray & Sanjo Koen, Gary & Alice McConathy, Dwain Sandlin, Willa Dean Perez, and Don Baker attended the program. The group was treated with a certificate, small loaf of fresh bread from our kitchen, and a delicious lunch. Thanks to all our volunteers.
Our own Welby Simpson brought back a gold metal in a horseshoe throwing competition at the North Texas Senior Olympics held in Dallas last weekend. Welby will be competing against the other finalist in Texas to decide who will carry the Texas title to the National Senior Games in California. Welby will also be competing in a couple of weeks in the game of ping-pong. We feel he will also do well in this sport after seeing him play at the Citizen’s Center. Good luck Welby!
Linda Sides with Experience Works will be at the Citizen’s Center on Friday, May 15, from 1-4:30 p.m. If you are 55 years of age or older and have a limited income this could be a program you might want to look into. Experience Works’ purpose is to train and find employment for seniors.
