Last week we celebrated Glenda Tilley’s 25 years of service to the elderly of Somervell County. Glenda was honored with a plaque presented by Chairman Betty Gosdin and a necklace designed by Jess Hardie. There was a nice turnout for the occasion.

Don’t forget this Friday is Shop & Swap day at the Citizen’s Center starting at 9:30 a.m. A table or tables can be reserved to display your wares on for only $5 each. Come join us for a day of shopping and fun.

Flu shots will be given on Sept. 23 if Lee Health Care receives the serum by this date.  Shots will be given between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. All you need is your Medicare Part B card or you may pay $26.  It would probably be wise to call the Citizen’s Center at 254-897-2139 on Tuesday or Wednesday morning to make sure Lee Health Care has received the flu serum before you make the trip.

Rosie Mimms has started getting things together for the Queen’s Contest on Oct. 10. If you are 60 years of age or older and would like to be one of the contestants, you may call Rosie at 254-898-8167. We had such a good time last year.  Janelle Gartrell won the contest last year, which was the first Queen’s Contest Rosie has held in Glen Rose.

If you are 60 or older, what activities would you like to have available at the Citizen’s Center during Monday through Friday?  What would entice you to join us during the day?  We would love to hear from you. Call 254-897-2139.

We are desperately in need of bingo prizes. Prizes can be good, clean garage sale items, or personal care, jewelry, etc.
