Pastor Billy Strayhorn has been assigned the position of pastor of First United Methodist Church in Glen Rose effective June 17.† He has most recently served as lead pastor at First United Methodist Church of Joshua and has also served at Eureka, Streetman & Richland Circuit, Ovilla UMC, First UMC of Groesbeck and St. John the Apostle UMC of Arlington as well as churches in Missouri.† Pastor Strayhorn came to Texas in 1979 from Missouri to attend Seminary at Perkins School of Theology.† He has made the Central Texas Annual Conference his home and has been Spiritual Director for the Chrysalis Movement and the Emmaus Community.† He has written a number of books and many of his sermons have been published.† He is Associate Editor for Parables, Etc & The Pastorís Story File from Saratoga Press.†

Pastor Strayhornís wife of 36 years, Mary has been a fifth grade teacher in the Arlington system.† They have two grown sons and two grandsons.†

Pastor Strayhornís first Sunday in the pulpit will be June 21.† Services at the historic church located off the square at Vernon and Pecan are at 8:30 and 11 a.m.† There will be a potluck welcome reception for Pastor and Mary in the Family Center between services.†
