First United Methodist Church is planning a big celebration with a lot of candles on its birthday cake ń 125, to be exact.
The church will hold its 125th anniversary Saturday, Nov. 20, and Sunday, Nov. 21.
The festivities begin on Saturday with the opening of a time capsule at 10:30 a.m. The church front lawn will resound with music by Mark Beauregard.
The highlight will be the release of balloons, each one of them with a message inside. After the balloon release for the church’s 100-year anniversary celebration, the balloons drifted to other states. Three responses were received from people as far way as Tennessee who found the messages.
On Sunday the worship service will be held at 10 a.m. for confirmation Sunday. Bishop Lowry will give the message.
Everyone is invited to come celebrate the church’s contribution to the community in the past, present and future.
