1 - Catch a concert

Oakdale Park's summer concert series starts playing at 8 p.m. Friday on the park's outdoor stage. Grab your friends, family, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of Texas Country music under the Texas Sky. Admission is free.

2 - Ride over to the ranch rodeo

Head over to Somervell County Expo where the All-Around Ranch Rodeo Challenge promises to entertain onlookers Thursday-Saturday. Competitors from 40 ranches from across the United States will face off for a chance at the $50,000 grand prize. Evening performances begin at 7 p.m. with bronc riding, double mugging and wild cow milking. But there is plenty to see throughout the weekend. Don't miss it!

3 - Roll into an auto show

Hot Rods for Heroes - a fundraising car, truck and motorcycle show benefiting Somervell County Fire Department - will be held 11 a.m.-3p.m. Saturday at the expo center equestrian field. To get to the field, turn onto Texas Drive, located behind the expo center, and enter the soccer park. The afternoon lineup also includes shopping, live entertainment, food and games.

4 - Hear all-around entertainment

Free entertainment will take the stage as cowboy poets and music makers entertain the ranch rodeo crowd at the Somervell County Expo 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. While you're there, be sure to check out the other activities going on at the expo.

5 - Take a hike

Head out on a nature hike at Dinosaur Valley State Park, where master naturalists will take you on a half-mile hike along the Paluxy River Nature Trail. The hike starts at track site No. 2 at 10 a.m., and naturalists share knowledge of the flora and fauna at the park. A longer walk beings at 2 pm. Call (254) 897-4588 for more information.
