First Baptist Church of Glen Rose Pastor Brent Ferren said his church is aiming to fulfill needs in the community that are not being met.
To meet those needs, First Baptist has established “Community Connect,” a group of educational programs that will be offered over a 13-week semester from January through April.
There are 16 programs, including Divorce Care, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Freedom University, Computer Skills for Senior Adults and Support Group for Military Families. The programs will be held each Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church, located at 2000 Bo Gibbs Drive.
“We began this primarily because there are needs represented in the community that are not being met by local churches,” Ferren said. “(Community Connect) was born out of a desire on our part to realistically meet some of the needs in our community.”
All of the programs are free of cost to the public. The Financial Freedom University materials cost $99, but are not required to attend the class and can be paid over the 13-week course.
The church will also provide a low-cost, high-taste dinner from 5:30-6:46 p.m. for $12 per family before classes.
