GLEN ROSE—Funeral services for Patsy Larue Thompson, 85, were held Friday, Oct. 20, at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. A visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 19.
Patsy was born in Somervell County, Texas to Henry and Ada Shackelford. Her first job was at General Dynamics. Then she worked at a beauty shop after she received her cosmetology license.
Patsy became a homemaker and raised her family in Somervell County. After her family was grown, she went to work at a Glen Rose nursing home. Then she worked at the Somervell County transit. She went on to work as a private caregiver for many years. This was a job that she cherished since she loved taking care of everybody.
Patsy was the loving mother of five, grandmother of 11, great –grandmother of 20, and great-great grandmother of three. She made her own butter, cottage cheese, cheese and ice cream. She liked to tend to her vegetable garden, and she canned peaches and pears from her trees. For fun she enjoyed playing 42 and was a fierce player.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 22 years, Doy Brown who passed away in 1974, and her husband of 14 years, Doyle Thompson who passed away in 1991.
Patsy is survived by her children; Clifton Roy Brown, Mary Doylene Templin and husband Larry, Ralph Glenn Brown and wife Suzanne, Pauline Lankford and husband Mark and Suzanne Graves, grandchildren: Jennifer, Julie, Jake, Kelsey, Beth, Kathryn, Rachel, Matthew, Caitlin, Chase, and August.
