GLEN ROSE - Robert Carl Simmons, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 13, in Dallas.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Squaw Creek Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Simmons was born July 15, 1926, in Somervell County, to Milton Porter Simmons and Faye Texas Hill Simmons. He married Peggy Jean Moore, April 8, 1946, in Glen Rose.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Simmons worked as an auto mechanic in Glen Rose, Cleburne and Granbury. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed telling stories and jokes and playing his mandolin with friends and family.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Peggy Jean Moore Simmons; and brothers and sisters Herschel Simmons, Ernest Simmons and Nova Jordan.

Survivors are Kathie Malone and husband, Keith, of Plano; grandsons Eric Malone and wife, Glory, of Bells, Texas, and Alan Malone and Daisy Dosier, of Plano; great-grandchildren Katelyn Kyburz and husband, Sam, Sierra Raney, Trenton Raney and Lydia Dosier; great-great-grandchildren Isley Kyburz and Hayden Boles; and his close friend, Lavada Moore of Godley.
