MERIDIAN - Bea Cousins, 98, of Meridian passed away Tuesday, May 31, in the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Colin Errington officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs. Pallbearers were Ken Baucom, John Fulton, Gene Harville, Ron Bowlin, James Pennington, and Ed Stauffer. Honorary pallbearer was Garry McDowell.
Bea was born August 11, 1912, in Walnut Springs. She was a daughter of the late Rufus I. Baucom and Mary Leah Culpepper Baucom. Bea was raised in Walnut Springs where she graduated from high school.
On December 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Johnnie R. Cousins Sr. in Walnut Springs. She lived in Gatesville and Kopperl for several years before moving to Meridian in 1956. She was an active member of the Meridian First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, grandson, Richard Cousins and her siblings.
She is survived by her sons Johnnie R. Cousins Jr. and his wife, Ruthie, of Whitney and Gary Cousins and wife, Kim, of Keller; grandchildren Cody Cousins and wife, Jennifer, of Ignacio, Colo., Chad Cousins and wife, Beth, of The Colony and Crystal Cousins of Haslet; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
