GLEN ROSE - Abbie Lee Ivy, 87, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, in Glen Rose.

A funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Glen Rose First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Squaw Creek Cemetery in Rainbow. Rev. Weldon Branham and Rev. Billy Strayhorn officiated.

Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Mrs. Ivy was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Merit, to Charles Grady Coker and Mattie Alma Gray Coker. Abbie married J.B. "Jay" Ivy, April 10, 1940, in Merit. She had been a resident of Glen Rose since 1941 and had volunteered at the First United Methodist Thrift Store for many years. Abbie was a big basketball fan and had attended most of the games of her children and grandchildren. She embroidered most of her life and enjoyed all crafts. Abbie and Jay were homebuilders and worked side by side building many homes and busineses in Glen Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.B. Ivy; brothers, C.G. Coker, Harold Coker; and sister, Daphna Nordgaard.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Billy Wiley of Granbury; Judy and Jonathan Gibson of Granbury; Angie and Eddie Edwards of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Kevin Keller, Jeremy Pollock, Nicholas Pollack, Nichole Edwards, Ashton Edwards; great grandson, Kyle Keller; step-grandchildren, Steve Wiley, Lisa Harkins, Bridget Gibson, Claire Gibson; step-great grandchildren, Kelby Wiley, Darci Harkins, Demi Harkins, Rainey Dennis, Cris Vardas.
