In defense of Bill Flores
Some folks, including his opponent, would like for you to believe that Bill Flores does not like nuclear power. Well, I have met Mr. Flores and in my opinion that statement, like a leaking bucket, does not hold water.
If these folks would talk Mr. Flores and visit his Web site, www.billfloresforcongress.com, they would read where Mr. Flores talks about nuclear power. It states, “We should be eliminating barriers to create new nuclear power plants – it is proven to be safe, clean for the environment and a cost-effective energy source for our families.” It further states, “We should grow our nuclear power facilities.” Does this sound like someone who supports nuclear power?
Now, let me share with you what I think Bill Flores does support in addition to nuclear power. Upfront he tells you that he is a limited-government candidate, which means to me he believes the federal government should be restrained by the Constitution and that the federal government should not be involved in so many aspects of our daily lives. For many years our career politicians in Washington, working with their lobbyist, have slowly transformed our federal government into a bureaucratic “nanny state” that supposedly takes care of our daily needs from cradle to grave while creating an uncontrolled runaway debt.
Mr. Bill Flores wants to change this trend toward creeping socialism and runaway spending and help restore the principles of our founding fathers. As President Andrew Jackson once quoted, “The duty of government is to leave commerce to its own capital and credit as well as all other branches of business, protecting all in their legal pursuits, granting exclusive privileges to none. “
I support Bill Flores for Congress, just as I know he supports nuclear power.
