WACO – Seventh grade students from Walnut Springs ISD, served by Education Service Center’s ESC GEAR UP grant program, experienced what college really looks like on March 21 at McLennan Community College (MCC).

Students went on a walking tour of the MCC campus, led by Micah Scott Floyd, Highlander central specialist at MCC.

The students also heard a presentation from Dustie L. Hamilton, recruitment and outreach specialist. Hamilton spoke to the students about ways they can start preparing themselves for college, even in middle school. She explained the importance of taking more challenging courses, getting involved in school organizations and discovering good study habits now that they can also apply college.
