  • Rotan addresses bad weather

Glen Rose I.S.D. Parents, Students and Staff,
Current weather projections indicate a strong possibility for freezing rain and sleet to move into the area around
midnight tonight. Ice accumulations of 1/4 inch are projected. Temperatures are forecasted to remain below freezing
for the next 80 hours causing any moisture that is frozen to remain frozen. Please keep in mind that weather forecast
can change very quickly as it did last week.
In the event ice begins to accumulate after midnight, I will put any decision to cancel or delay the start of school on the
district website, Facebook, and Twitter immediately and a callout to parents and media outlets will be made prior to
6:00 a.m. With temperatures projected to remain below freezing the next several days, school cancellation seems more
likely than a delayed start. Bad weather make up days are scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2014 and Monday, May 19,
    2014.
Please keep in mind weather forecast can change at any time. Any decision to cancel or delay school will be based on
the ability to safely transport students to and from school and on the latest available weather information. Additional
closing/delay information can be found on my previous communication at www.grisd.net
Thank you for your support and cooperation. “Somewhere it’s sunny and 75 degrees”, not in Glen Rose.
    Sincerely,
    G. Wayne Rotan, Superintendent
    Glen Rose I.S.D.
