Glen Rose safety Connor Hansen recorded 10 tackles against Sweetwater last Friday, earning the designation as the Glen Rose Reporter’s final Athlete of the Week for the 2016 football season.

Hansen, a 5-10, 162-pound junior, notched six solo stops and four assists in the Tigers’ season-ending 44-14 loss to the Mustangs in Graham in their third-round Class 4A (Div. II) playoff contest. The win sent Sweetwater into the Region I-4A semifinals against Seminole.

Not only is Hansen on the school’s A-B Honor Roll, he is also credited with “being a smart football player” and doing a good job of calling defensive plays, Glen Rose head coach Cliff Watkins said.

“Connor stepped in early in the season and continued to get better every week,” Watkins said. “He wound up being a good player for us. He got everybody lined up. He always made our coverage calls.”
