The Glen Rose 7 on 7 football team is still seeking to qualify for the Division II state tournament.

The offseason squad, coached by David Halcom, competed in the Brock tournament on May 27, winning one and losing two games.

Glen Rose beat Godley before losing to Comanche and Abilene Wylie.

“The game against Comanche, we just beat ourselves,” Halcom said. “We competed with Wylie most of the game, just came up short.”

The team is continuing league play on Tuesdays during June, and its next SQT (state qualifying tournament) will be June 16 at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, near Abilene.

The 7 on 7 state tournament for Division II (Class 4A and smaller schools) is set to be played June 29-30 in College Station. The Division I state tournament (Class 5A and 6A) will be June 30 and July 1, also in College Station.
